Located in the heart of Spain, Madrid is a city where centuries of history merge seamlessly with a vibrant modern culture. Established as a fortress in the 9th century during the Muslim rule of Al-Andalus, Madrid evolved into the capital of Spain in the 16th century under the Habsburg dynasty. When coming to Madrid make sure you explore the different neighborhoods for great food, bars and entertainment. Don’t miss out on Malasana, Lavapies, La Latina or Chamberi. One of my favourite Sunday activity is browsing El Rastro including the various antique shops lining the street.

Especially heading to the Mediterranean Madrid is perfectly located with highspeed trains to Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Granada or Sevilla. And with the various train companies running today you’ll always find a great deal.

The best time to travel to Madrid is during the spring and fall months, from April to June and September to November, when the weather is mild and the city comes alive with cultural events and festivities. This allows visitors to explore its attractions comfortably, indulge in the culinary delights of its markets and tapas bars, and partake in the spirited nightlife that Madrid is renowned for. Whether strolling through its historic streets or embracing its modern flair, Madrid promises a captivating journey for every traveller.
