Going forward, I’ll be publishing all blogs simultaneously in both languages, making it easier for everyone to follow along!
During the Christmas break, I’ll be working on translating more selected posts, so stay tuned for even more content in German. Your feedback and support have been fantastic, and I can’t wait to share these updates with you.
And don’t forget, next week we’ll be meeting up for the Christmas light walk in Madrid – it’s going to be a festive blast!

Travel Hack No 4 – Effortless Internet Access: Using eSIMs and Free Wi-Fi
This travel hack is all about staying connected without breaking the bank. Whether you're navigating a new city or just need to update your social media, finding reliable internet access is crucial. Here’s how you can do it smartly:
Firstly, let's talk about eSIMs. These are virtual SIM cards that you can activate via an app, eliminating the need for a physical SIM. Providers like Airalo and Holafly offer affordable data plans for international use. I used Airalo during my trip to China and Thailand and was super happy with the service. Install the eSIM before travelling to have immediate connectivity upon arrival. This way, you won't need to hunt for local SIM cards or deal with physical SIM swaps. eSIMs are ideal for short trips or frequent travellers who need a hassle-free internet solution.
Next, research cafes, libraries, airports, or city-wide free Wi-Fi zones before your trip. Apps like Wi-Fi Map can show you nearby hotspots with free access, making it easy to stay online. Many hotels offer Wi-Fi too, but it's always wise to confirm if there are extra fees to avoid surprises. During long layovers, free airport Wi-Fi can be a lifesaver, allowing you to catch up on work or entertainment. Security is a priority when using public Wi-Fi. To avoid hacking, always use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for a secure connection. If your phone doesn't support eSIMs, searching for free Wi-Fi can be a suitable alternative to ensure you stay connected.
With these hacks, you can ensure you stay connected, safe, and within budget during your travels.
